Bio
Maryon Attwood is a studio artist living and working in Coupeville, WA on Whidbey Island. Maryon’s formal training includes instruction in a classic liberal arts college program and study with individual studio artists.
Maryon’s oven-to-table ceramic platters are a result of her study with noted clay artist Ann Stannard of Morgan, Vermont. Her platters are made from specially formulated clay that withstands thermal shock and can be used safely in the oven as well as for serving and presentation.
My interest in producing oven-to-table platters partly comes from my concern for healthy foods prepared safely without the use of aluminum pans or aluminum foil. The natural cooking surfaces of the platters are environmentally safe. The flameware clay platters are not only beautiful, but are very easy to clean – and the beauty of these pieces is enhanced through use and over time. These platters are dishwasher safe and not to be used in the microwave.
Maryon is also producing ceramic tiles depicting a variety of motifs. She works and fires with her partner Robbie Lobell.
